So I started training at Victoria's Secret today!
I filled out paperwork for about two hours ;) and then we watched a safety video. Then we talked about dress code (which I now have a bunch of cute black clothes to wear to work thanks to Plug!). And we talked about specials and discounts employees get.
After a ten minute break we went out on the floor and shadowed someone. I learned how to do a bra fitting, how to "recover" which means to reorganize the panties that people have rifled through. And I learned the right phrases to say to customers when I approach them and things. It was great fun.
I can't wait to really work there and know all the ins and outs. :D
LOVE.

Recovery will be never ending, and as you get closer to Christmas, and you're ringing up sales like crazy, everything will go you know where in a hand basket, and that's when the district mgr. will arrive on want to know why everything is in disarray. Just kidding; they usually don't arrive during peak sales times when they could be really useful.
Hope you continue to love it and enjoy the people who come to shop.
Remember this enthusiasm. The enthusiasm for working, for laboring with your mind and your body, is sadly waning in our society so I encourage you to be wise and cultivate an eagerness for work, as well as for the rewards your work may bring. If you manage that trick you will find success in everything you undertake.
Yes indeed. I agree. Thanks for the advice!
Don't forget not to argue with customers even if there rude. I'm not sure that will actually happen though.
Oh, Tazz is so right, and it will happen many times. But, once you get into the swing of it there is much less effort used in being nice and accommodating than in arguing. AND it totally offsets the rude customer. He, he, he,he, he!!!!
When I worked at Gimbel's and later at Sear's, and much later at Jockey, we were taught that the first response should be," What would you like (name of store) to do?" Then we had to mold their answer into whatever the store's policy was. You'll be taught that, I'm sure. Just keep smiling (or frowning, as the incident warrants); it's not you; it's the product they're complaining about. You are just the sounding board.
Love you.
Guess what! I heard on the news tonight that Nicole Kidman is the female lead in the Nicholas Cage movie, working title "Trespass." So she's in town too, but I doubt we'll run into each other.
Love you.
So, I have to wonder, did the safety video cover not snapping the bra straps hard enough to bruise the customers during the fitting? And how to help a customer who is stuck in the skinny girdle-like garment and needs help in the fitting room?
I wrote the following earlier, but it was in the "new job" post, not the "First Day." Fearing you wouldn't see it there, I've pasted it here
So, how's the job going? Are you ringing up sales with confidence?
I checked out V.'s Secret web page and was surprised to find they now have outer wear, dresses, tops, bottoms, etc. Boy, have I been out of the loop. I've always thought of V's Secret as a lingerie store. HELLO!
Love you.
Oh yeah, classes too---how's that going?
