College Visit

Oh my goodness, I'm in love.

This past Saturday, the 7th of November, I attended the Columbia College Chicago Open House. It was SPECTACULAR!

First was the welcome session, which was in this theatre owned by Roosevelt University, but it was so pretty. The performance was very happy-making ;) and I got some recordings on my iPod. There was a jazz band, a choir, some soloists, a rapper, some dancers and videos. There were two speakers, and though I knew most of what they told me, it still made me love Columbia that much more.

Then mom and I went to the photography visit, and I peeked in the darkrooms and looked at students' work and it was beautiful.

The theatre presentation was awesome, and though I couldn't take the tour I looked in at some theatres in the building, the big one and the black box one. They were tight! Basically theatre there, they said they do on average 40 productions a school year, freshman are ENCOURAGED to audition, there is even a freshman-only production, and you are allowed to audition for companies within the city. Ugh, it's just so perfect.

It's pretty expenisve, especially if you live in the dorms, which are NICE! But I've been doing some scholarship research and have 45 potential ones in a binder at the moment, that are organized by due date and then by requirements.

I'M SO EXCITED! LOVE. <3

1 year anniversary

So this past Saturday, October the tenth, was Captain AJ Soulpatch and my one year anniversary. We had a marching band competition Saturday afternoon, and got done at about 5:30. Then after that, the night was up to him. He had planned something that was a complete surprise for me, and I had planned something for him Sunday afternoon. Here's what went down:

He picked me up and drove me to his house. When I walked in the door he told me to close my eyes while he "finished up" which meant light candles and turn off the lights. Then he steered me over to the dinner table, and revealed a home-made dinner of pesto pasta, shrimp, salad, and bread. On my set plate was gift in a tiny gift bag. The dinner was amazing! And the gift was the newest iPod nano, with a video camera built in, radio, color, and a longer screen. IT IS AWESOME! He's ridiculous. In a good way. I love him. :) <3

What I did on Sunday was make him his favorite meal: Spicy Buffalo Wings (with bleu cheese), Fries, Macaroni & Cheese, and Milk. He loved it. Then we went to Curtis Orchard, which is the local apple orchard/pumpkin patch/corn maze and all that jazz. It is all the rage this time of year, and it was packed. They are famous for their apple crisp donuts, which are the ONLY donuts I eat, and I only eat two, once a year. All in all it was a fantastic anniversary, and I'm more and more in love everyday!

LOVE to you all.

Involved With School

So, this is what’s up.

I’m guard captain, well one of them, and the rest of the guard is a mess. Everybody has potential but it’s just too big and there’s not focus. We had our first competition on Saturday in Chicago, and the band overall got second in our class out of three bands. We have two days until our next competition so we have no time whatsoever to clean any work, and we SUCKED on Saturday. So, that’s not cool.

I’m drama historian and one of my jobs is to plan homecoming, but when I made a suggestion on what to do at tailgate, the president (one of my friends, but very controlling and power hungry) vetoed it and said we were doing Beatles Rock Band. Okay, whatever, it’s not like it’s my job or anything.

My drama director is incompetent and doesn’t pick a show until the day before or the day of auditions. We found out the show yesterday, auditions are tomorrow. The show is Snapshot, a collection of seventeen short plays, with one or two people in each scene or “play”. It’s about Mount Rushmore. I’m hesitant to have him write me a college recommendation, but I’m still gonna ask him.

College applications are hectic. I’ve made it a goal to do something related to college everyday. I had seven colleges I was applying for, now I have four: University of Texas at Austin, Columbia College Chicago, Butler University, Indiana University. Possibly McKendree University if I like the looks of it and if I get around to it, that’s where this weekend’s marching band competition is. Woohoo.

Also, I'm in this weird phase right now where I'm really into designing t-shirts. Not like as a hobby, but when they are needed to be designed, I've designed them. I designed my high school's GSA t-shirt (Gay Straight Alliance) and the Colorguard t-shirt, and the Marching Band Seniors' t-shirt. I designed the Drumline's as well but it got rejected by the teacher so it won't be made. Anyway, thought I'd share. I'm excited to put them on my resume. I'll post photos of them soon, when they all are done.

Other than that my life is happy and good. I’m celebrating my one year anniversary on the tenth of October, and I’m still so in love it’s ridiculous. School is fine, homework-wise, though I’m just over high school in general. Photography is my most rigorous class, but I’m passionate about it so it’s all good. I love you all, and thanks for putting up with me and my inconsistent blogging. <3

a wedding ceremony

The wedding was great. Not too big, not too small. Jaz looked amazing, as did Chillax, and, of course, as to be expected, so did Oyster (though it took a lot of coaxing for me to brush her hair). I was really worried that she was going to skip and frolic down the aisle and have the rings go flailing, but surprisingly they got safely on the fingers of the couple. The hymns were pretty and Goo sang her heart out, beautifully. Father Timbits subtly motioned for when people needed to be where, and it went smoothly because of it. K Buz had a solo which was very moving, and my mother said that sometimes she sounds like a young boy when she sings... The reception had a nice atmosphere with awesome flowers that I don't know the name of, and said Barbie cake was delicious, and I don't even like cake. The loads of loaves of bread that Jaz made herself were equally delicious, I only had the spinach one, but I had four large slices. The fruit was well selected and the cheese was tasty. All in all it was a very happy and successful wedding.

Currently Happy

So lately, my days consist of waking up at nine, and working out with Aaron. Then he leaves and I consult my to do list that I've either made the night before, or I've only made it in my head so I then have to physically write it out. I then carry out my self-made "chores", usually blasting a different broadway musical if the task allows. When I've done all of my things, and Aaron has as well, he calls me up, and I usually go over to his house, we read, and eat dinner, and then read some more. I've convinced him to let me read Harry Potter 6 to him, since we saw the movie together and he had so many questions that I couldn't deal with the fact that he hadn't read it any longer. I know it seems a little routine, but it's really lovely, and I feel I'm getting a lot done. That's pretty much all. Comment if you like.

my life as of now

Right. So it's been like a year. Sorry about that.

Here's my life:

1) It's the summer, and I'm loving it, I've made some projects for myself to do so I don't get too bored, including alphabetizing the dvd's and starting my SENIOR YEAR SCRAPBOOK!

2) My only summer homework is to take pictures, this is for AP Studio Photography. :)

3) My boyfriend, Captain AJ Soulpatch, is amazing, and yesterday was our 9 month anniversary. I'm very happy, and in love, and all that jazz.

4) I'm not in a show at the moment, which is the first time since, well, a year. And I'm very relaxed, but I miss it. Though I have an audition next week.

5) I just got back from Nova Scotia, Canada, and New York City. It was amazing. I saw Avenue Q on broadway and covered Times Square like mad. In Canada we went to this place called The Ovens, which are sea caves, and I took loads of pictures. So much fun.

6) Before I went on vacation I had started to do daily morning workouts with Soulpatch, and it felt really good and I could notice a difference. Then I went on vacation and ate a bunch and didn't work out and DEFINITELY noticed a difference. So now we've started again, and I'm struggling to get back into the routine of things, but hopefully soon it will be no problem, and I'll notice a difference again.

That's pretty much it. Comment or e-mail, or just write on your own. LOVE. <3 :)
